Accra, April 10, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 15,000.00 with two sureties to one Johnson Adejoh, a footballer for alleged robbery.
The accused pleaded not guilty and would reappear in court on April, 27.
Prosecuting, Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, that the complainant in the case is a student of Fijai Senior High School.
He said on July 6, 2016 at about 1520 hours, complainant went to Accra mall to have fun and while there she noticed that the accused was tailing her, she became alarmed and decided to exit the mall.
He said, on reaching the Tetteh Quarshie interchange on the Accra-Tema Motorway, the accused attacked her and snatched her bag containing Samsung ultra-book laptop and Sony Xperia mobile phone and took to his heels.
The Prosecution said complainant raised an alarm but the accused managed to join a taxi plying the road towards Legon.
He said “Complainant also joined a waiting taxi and pursued him and on getting to Okponglo, a suburb of Accra, accused was caught up with the main traffic light and therefore he got out and took to his heels”.
Supt Bempah said the accused was chased by an irritating mob, who eventually arrested him, where the Samsung ultra-book laptop was retrieved but the phone could not be traced on him.
