Local Gov’t staff asked to produce original academic certificates

Head of Local Government Services Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has hinted , he will be embarking on what “Professional hunting within the Local Government Service”.

He said, in the coming days, all staff at the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) will be asked to produce original copies of their certificates for examination.

He said, many staff within the Local Government Service entered wrongly or without the required certificate thereby compromising professionalism and efficiency.

He urged all staff who have lost their certificates to do their best to recover them before it is too late.

“If the last rains washed your certificates away, please go down stream and wait for it there because you will have to bring it,” Nana Ato Arthur told the staff.

He made the disclosure at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council conference room when he interacted with staff of the various the MMDAs in the Region.

Nana Ato Arthur also called on local government workers to exhibit high level of professionalism in the discharge of their work.

He charged Chief Executives of the various MMDAs to ensure the completion of all projects inherited from the previous government.

The Head of Local Government Service was not comfortable with some staff using social media to create fear and panic within the Service.

Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour expressed his disappointment in the over reliance of District Assemblies on central government for funds.

Mr. Kwakye Darfour said, most Districts performed poorly in mobilizing internally generated funds for development.

He however, encouraged the Assemblies to adopt modern strategies in generating revenue internally.
