Accra, April 11, GNA – Ghana’s Para-Athletics trio, McClean Dzidzienyo, Yussif Amadu and Zeinabu Issah have secured early qualification to the 2017 World Para-Athletics Championship in London, fixed for July this year.
Although there are indications, that Ghana might secure a few more qualifications, but only the aforementioned athletes have made it so far.
McClean Dzidzornu would compete in the T53 200 meters race, with Yussif Amadu going for high jump, whilst Zeinabu Issah, would represent the country in Discus and Shot Put.
However, these athletes are facing financial challenges, which might perhaps hinder their participation in the competition.
The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is therefore expected to raise 3,000 Pounds Sterling to support the registration of the athletes.
The NPC might struggle to raise the funds for the championship as they have been battling for sponsorship over the last years.
The World Para-Athletics Championship would commence on the 13th of July and end on the 27th of July 2017 in London.
